Submission Rejection Issues - Updated

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 2, 2010, 10:21 AM

Submission Issues - Updates

After talking with a few people about the submission issues discussed below, I have found that there is currently no way to do what I want.  The submission limit is just that, a submission limit and it does not take into consideration rejections.  Also, ever since I turned it off last week, we have been constantly getting people submitting multiple shots per day.  It is with that in mind that we decided to turn back on the submission limit.

So what does this mean to you?  Make sure you submit only appropriate work and submit it to the correct folder!  I hate bringing this up again, but we keep seeing members who don't follow the rules.  If you choose not to comply and we reject your submission, you will now be required to wait until the next submission period before trying again.  So be careful when you submit.  You've been warned, so no complaints!  And now I promise not to bring this up again.

On a similar note, how do you feel about the current amount of submissions?  We don't want to be overwhelming you.  The group has been steadily growing, and we are now getting over 150 submissions per week.  We are tosing around the idea of going back to 1 submission every 2 weeks (which is how the club used to be), but want to get feedback from you.  So respond to the poll, and let us know.

A few weeks ago, DA introduced a feature into groups that automatically tracks and limits the number of submissions per member.  We currently have this set to 1 per week, according to the group rules.  This seemed to be working great, but apparently it doesn't work quite like we thought.

It has come to my attention that if a user has a submission rejected for any reason, they are not allowed to resubmit until the next week.  That's not what we intended.  We will accept one deviation per week.  I'm currently looking into the issue to see if anything can be done.  But please make sure you are choosing the correct folders and submitting scapes (reasons for rejection)!

With this in mind, I'm going to turn off the auto monitoring for now.  However, we better not start seeing multiple submissions from the same user or it gets turned back on and you'll just have to suffer through it.  So don't get any funny ideas and start submitting your whole gallery.

Sorry for any inconveniences this has caused, and hopefully we'll have it sorted out soon.

this is okay, I agree, 1 submission per week is enough, and no, I don't think you're overwhelming us!

Hey, if people submit it into the wrong folder, that's their own fault, not yours :P And yea, reorganizing submitted deviations into the correct folders can take a lot of time.

Exactly as I expected. At least you tried...

it's supposed to work that way. and if people realize that their work has been rejected and that they can't keep on submitting, then they will realize they need to be careful, read the rules and try to pick only works of decent quality for the group. that feature was designed to ease admin's jobs, not to allow people to abuse your good will. and i'm happy it works this way in my groups, esp in the biggest one.
keep on your good work, some of us do appreciate it ;)

That's what I thought about as well, but figured I'd look into it. It will probably get turned back on though, and hopefully that will force people to be more careful in their submissions.

they will have no choice - they may ask why, and then get explanation, if they don't bother to read the rules. we like out "jobs" but many people fail to understand that we do it in our free time - some act like they pay us big time to be at their service. i used to run Nature club before the group system and that was difficult, much easier now esp with this limiting system :) and as i say to all, applicabel to me too, if you wish to be a member of the club - you play by the rules or leave and make your own ;) so i try to respect the rules admins make, and this automatic limiting makes stuff much easier as each group has its own limits so you easily forget where you submitted what and when :)

I have heard/read about this problem as well, I think they probably will fix it given some time.

Almost like the previous entry, I would say turn it off and as soon as you see abuse turn it back on, don't get yourself all upset because some people have no self control.
