General Group Guidelines
I thought the group rules were clear enough about how to submit and what type of work we accept, but we get are constantly getting work that is either submitted to the incorrect category or doesn't belong in the group at all. So I'll try to explain a little more clearly about these issues below. Hopefully that helps reduce these errors, and we won't have to reject so many of your submissions.
First, make sure that you choose the correct folder when submitting to the group, or we will reject your photo. If your shot is a landscape, put it in the landscape folder, ect. It's a simple as that.
To clarify a little about what does and doesn't belong in the group, here is an easy check. When you uploaded your photo to DA, did you choose either the landscape, waterscape, or sky category? If not, your work probably doesn't belong in the group. Just because there may be some water in a shot, or a little sky doesn't mean it qualifies as a scape. It all depends on what the main subject of the photo is. So to be perfectly clear, the definitions from DA are below and these are what we follow:
Landscapes - Photographs of an expanse of natural scenery that contain land as the main subject.
Waterscapes - Photographs of an expanse of natural scenery that contain water as the main subject.
Sky - Photographs of nature involving the sky or astronomical features as the most significant element.
Big emphasis on "natural scenery". If the focus is a bridge, we'll reject it. If the focus is the water, and there happens to be a small bridge off to the side...we'll probably accept it. We'll be a somewhat lenient with this type of stuff.
Also, we do not accept cityscapes at this time. Yes I know, they are a type of scape, but the club was originally founded to focus on nature and that's how it's staying. Sorry. We might consider adding this category in the future if there is overwhelming support, but no guarantees.
And as always, if you have questions or suggestions send us a note. If a photo of yours was rejected and you don't understand why, add a comment and we'll be glad to give you our reasoning.
