Contest Updates
Alright everyone...So the contest deadline was originally set for today (the 31st), and as of now there has only been 1 entry! Just one single entry! The group has over 500 members, and I would expect more than one member to participate in our contests. I know we don't have any prizes to offer (this time), but still...
Now my purpose in writing this is to encourage more participation within the group, not to rebuke you. As admins, when we see little participation it makes us wonder if doing this work is worthwhile. There are plenty of other things we could do with our time, but we choose to serve you through this group. We want this group to help motivate and inspire you to become better photographers, and for you to help the other members achieve the same. This requires active member involvement to work though.
With that in mind, the contest will be extended for an additional week.
So the deadline is now February 7th. Hopefully we will have some more entries before then! All of the details can still be found below.
Group Avatar Contest
If you are a member of other groups, you have probably noticed that the group avatar can now be 100x50 instead of 50x50. So, the first contest is to let you come up with a new group avatar. Make sure your design encompasses the theme of the group, but be as creative as you want. All of the details are posted below so get going, have fun, and show the group what you can do!
Contest Rules
Size must be 100x50 px, and be under 15KB
Must contain the group name
Entries must be submitted to the "Contest - Group Avatar" folder
Contest deadline is midnight, February 7
Only one submission per member is allowed, so make sure it's your best work
If you use a photo, make sure you either own it or have permission to use it
Contest Submission Process
Submit to the "Contest - Group Avatar" collection:
[link] Click on the "Suggest a Favorite" button, them select the image from your gallery. Double check that you are submitting to the contest folder.
An admin will then make sure your work fits all of the contest criteria before accepting it.
Contest Judging
The specifics of how the judging will work have not been decided yet. However, the winner will be chosen by the group members, not just the admins.

We are always looking for ways to improve the group in any way so if you have any feedback for us, send it.
